He wanted to sell his career, his friends, his life, his everything, to start everything anew. But does he really need to do all these, just to forget all the memories with his wife? Yes, alot of those things he had will remind him of his wife, but I still believe that time will heal the wound. Maybe not all, but they will fade one day. Fond memories are worth keeping too. Of course, he must have been in such a great agony that he had no choice but to take this step. Perhaps this might work well for him, at least he didn't turn to suicide.
